The Papal revolution of the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries began with the Gregorian Reform (1073). This reform involved thorough renewal and its most immediate effect was that of freeing the Church from the power of kings and feudal lords.

A new era in which faith was lived in a totally different way begins:
