The last grand achievement celebrated on this path through time is marked by the liberal and democratic reforms that have shaped the face of the modern western world. In the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, these reforms gradually and covertly made headway through the Ancien Régime, whose vehicle of expression was Baroque art.

They sought the dignity of the individual –crystallised in Human Rights– and freedom –the freedom of thought, political freedom, economic freedom and, above all, freedom of conscience within the framework of a healthy laicism..
